What I'm Reading this Month: February

by - February 26, 2019

This month has been pretty busy for me so I haven't done much reading. I'm still cranking through one of Deepak Chopra's books. As a result, I haven't started anything new since last month, unfortunately. (As you can see, this monthly reading plan of mine is going spectacularly. Ha!) Though, my lack of new content to read is likely due to the fact that I chose to set a 3 book reading goal for myself for the month of January. I will try to be more realistic in the future.
However, I will let you know of two different books I've been reading on-and-off since December. It's not because they're lengthy or uninteresting. It's simply because they don't satisfy certain reading needs of mine as of late.

Anyway, here they are and I hope this will suffice as a decent "what I'm reading this month" blog post!

A Court of Frost and Starlight
Author: Sarah J Maas

A Court of Frost and Starlight is the fourth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas. This series is a fantasy romance based loosely on the story of Beauty and the Beast. I’ve loved Maas’ side series for awhile now and this book actually takes place after the ending/wrap-up of the plot from the two books before. I really love the characters and the story itself. Maas has a relatable and immersive style in writing that I admire. I recommend trying out the series, it can be a bit dark, and a bit scandalous at times, but it’s enjoyable.

The Once and Future King
Author: T.H. White

The Once and Future King is a story about King Arthur. It starts out with Arthur being presented as a young boy who goes by the name of Art and retells of his adventures and ascension to the throne and the leader of the knights of the round table. It is a longer book and the dialogue of the characters can be a bit tricky, but it’s a nice book to read. I like the way the story is portrayed and White did a beautiful job of paying homage to the legends of King Arthur. I’ve been reading it for awhile, usually as a bedtime or early morning read. My favorite character by far is Merlin.

For next month, I'll try to update with at least two or three different books that I've started or have read that I find really interesting and/or exciting. I highly recommend the two above if you're looking for more fantasy and narrative types of stories. Sarah J Maas also has a longer series set in a different universe. The first book is titled Throne of Glass at t's about an assassin attempting to gain her freedom (this is a really short, one-sentence summary and by no means gives this book r the series justice). I encourage you to look into Maas' works. And of course you should check out the Once and Future King because it's pretty awesome!
